Getting Rent Ready

Redecorating

Having neutral colours throughout is always a good idea. That way, the house can be seen as a blank canvas, and more people will find it desirable. We recently featured an article in our newsletter relating to Resene’s most popular colours.

This also applies to curtains and carpet.

A quick tidy up

Often purchasing new curtains and having ceilings, walls and carpets professionally cleaned can be the next best thing to repainting and re-carpeting. We’re regulars at the bargain tables of Harvey Furnishings, where the staff is always helpful in finding exactly what we need!

Presenting the property in the best possible way makes our job a lot easier. If you’re living at the property, it’s a good idea to de-clutter as much as possible so we can take photos that represent the property in the best light.

Everything ready to go

It’s important that we get things right from the beginning whenever we take over a management. Here are some helpful pointers when handing over your property to us:

  • Ensure the property has been thoroughly cleaned throughout, paying particular attention to the kitchen and bathrooms.
  • Mow lawns and weed the garden where necessary.
  • Make sure all appliances are working and provide manuals where possible.
  • Check all locks on doors and windows and make sure the property is secure. Install security latches where possible.
  • Provide alarm and gate codes where necessary.
  • Provide two full sets of keys, one for the tenants and one for our office.

Fortunately, you don’t have to do all of this on your own. We have a team of competitively priced, reliable tradespeople that are always happy to assist when required. They’re used to working together to ensure minimal downtime.
